Monaghan United win U15 Cup Final After Extra Time

Monaghan United defeated Cavan Shamrocks in the Under 15 Cup Final on Sunday in a thrilling game that went to extra time to get a winner. Cavan Shamrocks got off to a great start leading 2-0 at half time. Monaghan United started the second half on the front foot and had numerous chances to score but the Cavan SHamrocks goalkeeper made some great saves to keep it at 2-0. The turning point in the game came when Cavan Shamrocks striker Sean Martin hit the crossbar with a rasper after a great move, but only for Monaghan United to counter attack and score to bring them back into the game. Monaghan pressed hard fo the equalliser and got it with 15 minutes left on the clock. With both sides trying hard for the winner it was Monaghan who struck first to go 3-2 up with minutes left on the clock. Cavan Shamrocks did not give up and with the game moving into injury time they got a free kick just outside the penalty box and up stepped Sean Martin and he slotted home a great goal to level it at the death.  Extra time starting with both teams having chances but it was Monaghan who score the only goal in the second half of extra time to win a great game. Credit must go to both teams and their officials who produced a great game which was played in terrible weather for part of the second half.
