Cootehill win Under 9 Cup Final

Cootehill won the Under 9 Cup in an exciting final on Monday evening, defeating Ballyjamesduff in a very entertaining game that finished 0-0 in normal time. The game saw some excellent football from these promising young players that kept the large attendance on their toes from start to finish. Both teams gave a hundred percent commitment from start to finish and it was a pity that there had to be a looser. Both teams were a credit to their clubs and coaches. It was not until the first period of extra that the deadlock was broken, after the Ballyjamesduff goalkeeper and made some great saves he had no chance with the strike that opened the Cootehill account. Ballyjmaesduff pilled on the pressure for the equaliser but the Cootehill defence and goalkeeper were equal to the task and in the later minutes of the game with Ballyjameduff committed to trying to get an equaliser they were caught on the counter and Cootehill scored twice to run out winners 3-0 in the end. Well done to everyone involved this was a great advertisement for the CMUL and what it stands for.
