The Football Association of Ireland is delighted to unveil Thomas Heffernan as the new FAI Football Development Officer for Cavan.
Working with the Association since 2007 as an assistant coordinator on the Emerging Talent Programme in Clondalkin, Heffernan is no stranger to football development and making connections within communities.
The Monaghan native has excelled in his coaching career – earning the UEFA A Licence – since retiring from playing following stints with Monaghan United and Dungannon Swifts.
Now, he is focused on building on the good work that Tom Mohan did in Cavan before taking over as Republic of Ireland Under 19 head coach on a full-time basis.
“It is a new challenge and one that I’ve been looking forward to since the vacancy came up,” stated Heffernan, who was congratulated by FAI CEO John Delaney on his appointment.
“There is a lot of potential in Cavan in terms of developing the game even further and linking in with the local communities. I’m looking forward to meeting new people and working as hard as I can.
“The FAI have been fantastic and I’m very thankful for this opportunity. I just want to get stuck in now and make a difference in Cavan.”
